| Altar & Rosary Society
Supports parish religious, educational & social activities; assists with & cares for the liturgical needs of the church including altar coverings, vestments, hosts, wine & related supplies. Activities include fundraisers & support of special events devoted to the Blessed Mother. Meets 3rd Tuesday of the Month. Altar & Church Decor Decorates the altar & sanctuary throughout the year. Colors, themes & special decorations are keyed to feasts & seasons such a Pentecost, Lent & Advent. Coordinators: Esther Janowicz & Mary Talevich 773-2219 under Fr. Peter's direction. Altar Servers Assist the Priest at Masses & liturgies. St. Paul's Choir Sings at 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass & other special Masses & liturgies throughout the year. Choir practices are held Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. Musical Accompaniment for Masses Organists provide music for the 5:30 p.m. Saturday, 8:00 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. Sunday Masses. Lectors Proclaim Sacred Scripture, make parish announcements & guide congregation through celebration of Masses & liturgies. Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist Assist the Priest in distribution of Holy Eucharist during Masses. May take Holy Eucharist to sick or homebound. Ushers Assist with seating worshippers, taking collections & coordinating presentation of gifts at weekend Masses. Rosary Devotion
People gather daily at 7:35 a.m. to pray the Rosary before the 8:00 a.m. Mass. Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful & Glorious Mysteries are prayed on alternate days. Eucharistic Adoration Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is available from 1-8 p.m. on Thursdays in the Church. Participants spend time in worship, prayer, reflection & adoration of Our Lord. At least three volunteers per hour provide scheduled coverage. Frist Friday Anointing of the Sick & Holy Hour 8:00 a.m. Mass on the first Friday of every month includes Anointing of the Sick followed by a Eucharistic Holy Hour and Benediction. Donuts & coffee afterwards in the church hall. Eucharistic Adoration --St. Joseph of Cupertino Friary Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament occurs in the friary Chapel every Monday from 10-2:00 p.m. For information call Celene Souza 929-0115 or Michelle Mehlschau 489-1177. Cenacle of Marian Movement of Priests This prayer Cenacle prays the Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet & other prayers before the Blessed Sacrament for our priests, bishops & faithful--for the strength & courage to remain faithful to their vocations--& for the "conversion of hearts" around the world. Meets Thursday in the church from 1-3:00 p.m. Confraternity of the Holy Face of Jesus Meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 12:30-1:30p.m. in the Church to render a special homage to the Holy Face of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Members offer reparations for blasphemies & other sins in order to obtain the conversion of sinners & the appeasing of Divine Justice. Militia Immaculata A prayer & study group modeled on the discipleship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Meets Mondays 9-10:15 a.m. year'round for faith & Scripture study & Rosary--at St. Joseph of Cupertino Friary Development Office, 1342 Dale Ave., Arroyo Grande. Secular Franciscan Fraternity Fraternity meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month in the church followed by on-going formation, business meeting and social in the rear of the parish hall. |
Children from preschool through 8th grade meet in the parish hall each Wednesday during the school hear from 4-5:00 p.m. for Catholic religious education classes. Coordinator: Teresa Halverson 473-1222
High School Youth meet in the parish hall each Sunday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. during the school year for Catholic faith study & social activities. RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Class for adults who are interested in exploring & learning about the Catholic faith, its beliefs & practices. Classes meet Wednesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. September through May. Little Rock Bible Study Friday mornings 8:30-10:30 a.m. September-May in the parish hall. Scripture study focuses on individual books of the Bible. Adult Education Offerings vary throughout the year & include Catholic Faith topics, Scripture & Catechism studies, & Catholic devotions. Knights of Columbus St. Maximilian Kolbe Council #8762 Catholic men's fraternal organization supporting parish, community & service needs such as Franciscan & Catholic education funds & scholarships, People's Kitchen, Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics, etc. General meeting last Wednesday of the Month: 7:00 p.m. Meetings are in the parish hall. |
Five Cities Christian Women Emergency Food Bank
Ecumenical group of women & men who provide emergency food service on weekdays from 2-4:00 p.m. at 192B South 9th street & Rockaway, Grover Beach. Volunteers also work weekday mornings to receive & stock food. St. Paul's Food Bank Collection Non-perishable food items & toiletries are collected every week in church vestibule & taken to Five Cities Emergency Food Bank. People's Kitchen Knights of Columbus provide & coordinate food preparation & serving staff at People's Kitchen for the homeless & those in need every 5th Friday of a month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Parishioners are welcome as volunteers. |
Home Visitation of Sick & Homebound, Hospital Visitation
Call parish office 773-2219 to request visits by Priests of the parish. Martha's Ministry Provides care & comfort to family & friends of the deceased by hosting a reception in the parish hall following the Funeral Mass. Provide set up, serving & clean up, & if needed, provide a light buffet meal complete with table settings. This service is available to all our parishioners. Hospice of SLO County Committed to the dignity of the human experience, provides volunteer support, education, & counseling to those living with life-threatening or terminal illness, their families & bereaved. Respect Life activities focus on the protection & sanctity of life from conception to natural death. Weekly Prayerful Presence in front of local abortion mills & quarterly educational meetings. Offers reference library of pro-life materials & is an information resource for local pregnancy support, adoption, and post-abortion counseling.
